General Description
The TS9002 series is a positive voltage linear regulator developed utilizing C MOS technology featured low quiescent current (30uA typ.), low dropout voltage, and high output voltage accuracy, making them ideal for battery applications . The Chip Enable (CE) includes a CMOS or TTL compatible input allows the output to be turned off to prolong battery life. The TS9002 series is inc luded a precision voltage reference, error correction circuit, a current limited output driver , over temperature shutdown, and a “ Power Good” detec tor, which pulls low when the output is out of regulation. This series are offered in 5-pin SOT-25 package.

Detail Description
The TS9002 family of CMOS regulators contain a PMOS pass transistor , voltage reference, error amplifier, ov ercurrent protec tion, ther mal shutdown, and power good function. The P-channel pass transistor receives data from the error amplifier , over-current shutdown, and ther mal protection circuits. During nor mal operation, the error amplifier compares the output voltage to a precis io n reference. Over-current o and Ther mal shutdown circuits become ac tive when the junction temperature exceeds 150 C , or the current exceeds 300mA. During ther mal shutdown, the output voltage remains low. Nor mal operation is restored when the junction o temperature drops below 120 C . The TS9002 switches from voltage mode to current mode when the load exceeds the r ated output curr ent. This prevents over-stress. The TS9002 also incorporates c urrent foldback to r educe power dissipation when the output is short circuit. This feature becomes ac tive when the output drops below 0.8volts, and reduces the current flow by 65%. Full current is restored when the voltage exceeds 0.8 v olts.
External Capacitors
The TS9002 is stable w ith an output capacitor to ground of 2.2mF or greater . Ceramic capacitors have the low est ESR, and will offer the bes t AC performance. Conversely, Aluminum Electrolytic capacitors exhibit the highest ESR , resulting in the poorest AC r esponse. Unfortunately, large value ceramic capacitors are comparatively expensive. One option is to parallel a 0.1mF ceramic capacitor with a 10mF Aluminum Electrolytic . The benefit is low ESR, high capac itance, and low overall cos t. A second capacitor is recommended between the input and gr ound to stabilize Vin. The input capacitor should be at least 0.1mF to have a beneficial effec t. All capacitors should be placed in close proximity to the pins . A "Quiet" ground ter mination is desirable. This can be achieved w ith a "Star" connection
Enable
The Enable pin nor mally floats high. When actively , pulled low , the PMOS pass tr ansistor shuts off, and all internal circuits are pow ered down. In this state, the quiescent current is less than 1mA. This pin behaves much like an electronic switch.
Power Good
The TS9002 includes the Power Good feature. When the output is not within? 5% of the spec ified voltage, it pulls low. This can occur under the following conditions: (1) Input Voltage too low. ( 2) During Over-Temperature. (3) D uring Over-Current (4) If output is pulled up. (Note: PG pin is an open-drain output) 2/5 Version: A07
