3 Aluminum Foil/Reinforced Tape 1430 Technical Data Product Description 3M™ Aluminum Foil/Reinforced Tape 1430 is a dead soft aluminum foil tape combined with a non-woven web. It has a press sensitive adhesive and offers the superior sealing benefits of foil with the ease of handling and strength of cloth. ASTM Test Method Adhesion to Steel: Features 22 oz./in. width (24 N/100 mm) D-3330 Tensile Strength: 19 lbs./in. width (333 N/100 mm) D-3759 Elongation at Break: 12% D-3759 Total Tape Thickness: 5.5 mils (0.14 mm) D-3652 Water Vapor Transmission Rate: 0.1g H2O/100 sq. in./24 hrs. (1.55 g/m2/24 hrs.) • Can be easily torn by hand. • Aluminum backing provides an excellent reflective surface for both heat and light. • Performs from -56°F (-54°C) to 300°F (149°C) continuously and has been known to perform when exposed to temperatures in excess of 400°F (204°C) for shorter periods of time. Generally, adhesive transfer occurs on removal when the higher temperature limits are reached. • Provides an excellent moisture barrier and ultimate adhesion level. • It conforms better and does not puncture and tear as easily as many thin foil tapes that come on a liner. • Because of its excellent handling and edge sealing qualities, it’s much easier and faster to apply than many of the standard foils, especially the linered foils. • It can be applied to many complex shapes and contoured surfaces easily. • Best results attained when applied to a clean, dry surface above 32°F (0°C). 3M™ Aluminum Foil/Reinforced Tape 1430 Application Ideas • • • • • • • Sealing or protecting of complex shapes or contoured surfaces. Excellent general purpose duct sealing. Moisture barrier around windows. Electronic sensing of splices for flexible materials. Insulation wrap for hoses and other flexible parts. Seaming of insulation board. General sealant indoors or out. Storage Store under normal conditions of 60° to 80°F (16° to 27°C) and 40 to 60% R.H. in the original carton. Shelf Life To obtain best performance, use this product within 18 months from date of manufacture.
