July, 2014 3M™ Scotch-Seal™ Metal Sealant 2084 Product Features • 3M™ Scotch-Seal™ Metal Sealant 2084 is a one-part aluminum colored sealant which air dries to a tough, exible lm that resists water, oils and fuel. • Retains sealing properties after extended aging when painted. • Can be used to bond and seal aluminum to glass; also adheres well to many other metals and woods. Painting after curing is recommended, especially if sealed area will be subjected to UV exposure. 3M™ Scotch-Seal™ Metal Sealant 2084 Handling/Application Information (continued) Directions for Use Surface Preparation: Best results are obtained on clean, dry surface. Oil, grease and other contaminants may be removed by wiping with a solvent such as isopropyl alcohol, MEK, acetone, or other locally compliant solvent.* Application: Production dispensing is best achieved with pressure- ow equipment. Hand caulking guns may also be used. Cleanup: Equipment and excess sealer may be cleaned with solvent such as isopropyl alcohol, MEK, acetone, or other locally compliant solvent.* *Note: When using solvents for clean-up, extinguish all ignition sources and follow manufacturer’s precautions and directions for use when handling such materials. Storage and Shelf Life For optimum storage 3M™ Scotch-Seal™ Metal Sealant 2084 should be stored at 60-80°F (15-26°C). Higher temperatures reduce normal storage life. Lower temperatures cause increased viscosity of a temporary nature. Rotate stock on a “ rst in- rst out” basis. When stored at recommended temperature in original, unopened container, this product has a shelf life of 15 months from date of manufacture.
