To: PCN ADMIN CYPRESS pcn_adm@cypress.com Product Obsolescence Information: Cypress announces the obsolescence of select 40 QFN (6x6x1.0mm) Punch Singulation products from its portfolio. These obsolete products will be replaced by a functional, drop-in Saw Singulation replacement. A drop-in replacement is defined as a product that is pin-to-pin and function/feature compatible with the obsolete product. Cypress has qualified drop-in replacements at ASE-Taiwan. 40 QFN (6x6x1.0mm) Saw Singulation packages are assembled at ASE-Taiwan using the following sets of materials: Material Mold Compound Die Attach Epoxy Bond Wire size/ material Lead Finish ASE - Taiwan EME-G631H FH-900 0.8 mil / Au NiPdAu Last Time Buy (LTB) and Last Time Ship (LTS) dates are also provided for each product. The LTB date denotes the last day on which orders will be accepted; these orders may be scheduled for shipment through the LTS date provided. Note: Cypress is also in the process of qualifying Cu Wire drop-in replacements and the PCN will be issued later in 2012. Benefits of Change: The Saw Singulation process is more stable and supports a more reliable supply source for customers. Approximate Implementation Date: Affected punch singulation part numbers listed above are subject to EOL with the given LTB and LTS dates as indicated above. However, existing orders for an affected punch part number may be converted to the corresponding replacement saw part number effective immediately. Anticipated Impact: Saw Singulation products are completely compatible with the affected products from a functional, parametric, and quality performance perspective. However, the package profile has changed; customers are urged to check the package outline drawings attached to this PCN for changes. Changes to customers’ pick and place equipment may be necessary. Method of Identification: Cypress maintains traceability of product to wafer level, including wafer fabrication location, through the lot number marked on the package. Response Required: No response required. Customers are advised to take note of the aforementioned LTB and LTS dates, and plan to convert to the Saw Singulation product prior to the obsolescence of the Punch Singulation product.
