May 22, 2015 Product change Lead-free glass passivation for EPCOS SMD NTC thermistors By end of 2015 all EPCOS SMD NTC thermistors now manufactured with solderable Nibarrier terminations will be produced with a new standardized lead-free glass passivation. This technology is already being used for EPCOS SMD varistors and some EPCOS SMD NTC thermistors with tight tolerances. The change of the entire portfolio of SMD NTC thermistors to the new technology standard enables increasing quality requirements to be fulfilled and the production process to be optimized further. Products are qualified to the requirements of AEC-Q200 among others. In addition, customers will benefit from reduced delivery times, lead-free parts and a green production technology. All specified properties of the affected SMD NTC thermistors remain unchanged. To permit clear distinction and tracking, the suffix V09 will be added to the ordering codes. The labels on the packaging and the shipping documents will than bear an 18-digit number, e.g. B57331V2472J060V09. For customers, the 15-digit ordering code, e.g. B57331V2472J060, and the ordering process remain unchanged. Samples of SMD NTC thermistors with the new glass passivation are already available. Estimated date of first delivery of changed product: September 1, 2015 If EPCOS does not receive notification to the contrary within a period of 10 weeks, EPCOS assumes that the customer agrees to the change.
