1. INTRODUCTION
Installation Tool 1055251-1 (Figure 1) is used to install
and remove SMA Hermetic Plug Connectors. Figure 1
also lists the available replacement head that may be
purchased from TE Connectivity separately.

[with U.S. customary units in brackets], unless
otherwise indicated.
2. Once the connector is in place, rotate the
threaded cap to hold the connector in the tool.
3. Holding the handle, turn the tool clockwise to
thread the plug connector together.
4. Continue turning the handle (and connector) until
the drive handle makes a “clicking” sound. This
clicking sound is an indication that the proper torque
has been reached.
5. Rotate the tool counterclockwise to release the
connector.
2. DESCRIPTION
Installation Tool 1055251-1 contains an adjustable
handle that allows for torque settings between
6 in.-lbs. and 30 in.-lbs. This tool also contains a
connector-specific head assembly.
A threaded cap at the end of the assembly, holds the
connector.
3.2. Removal
1. Thread the hermetic plug connector in the
threaded cap.
2. Once the connector is in place, rotate the
threaded cap to hold the connector in the tool.
3. Holding the handle, turn the tool
counterclockwise to unthread the plug connector.

The torque driver contains a 6.35 [.250] square
drive which accepts the replacement head (shown in
Figure 1).
Since the previous version of this document, the
following changes were made:
1. Pull the head off the standard 6.35 [.250] square
drive.
2. Snap the replacement head (Figure 1) onto the
square drive.
• Changed “six” to “6” in Section 2.
• Added “ORIGINAL INSTRUCTIONS”.
• Updated document to corporate requirements.
