1. INTRODUCTION
3. INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL
Installation Tool 1059773-1 (Figure 1) is used to install
and remove OSP Hermetic Plug Connectors. Figure 1
also lists the available replacement head that may be
purchased from Tyco Electronics separately.
3.1. Installation
NOTE

[with U.S. customary units in brackets], unless
otherwise indicated.
NOTE
The connector should bottom on a stop within the
collet.

2. Once the connector is in place in the collet, move
the locking handle to the closed position. This
secures the connector in the tool.
2. DESCRIPTION
Installation Tool 1059773-1 contains an adjustablE
handle that allows for torque settings between 6 in.lbs. and 30 in.-lbs. This tool also contains a connectorspecific head assembly.
Once the tool head is adjusted for the specific
connector, the installation of multiple connectors is
made easy with a quick-release locking handle.
A collet at the end of the assembly, holds the
connector. A collet adjustment nut tightens the
connector in the collet.
The locking handle is used to secure the hermetic
style plug in place during installation, and release the
hermetic style plug assembly after installation.

1. Place the hermetic plug connector in the collet.
CAUTION Do not force the locking handle closed. If the
handle does not easily close the collet tension may
have to be adjusted.

3. If necessary, turn the adjustment nut until the
connector is held snuggly in place.
NOTE
The collet adjusting nut is covered with a heat
shrink tubing to help maintain adjustment.

CAUTION Damage to the connector may result if the collet is
not properly adjusted.

4. Holding the handle, turn the tool clockwise to
thread the plug connector together.
4. Holding the handle, turn the tool
counterclockwise to unthread the plug connector.
5. Continue turning the handle (and connector) until
the drive handle makes a "clicking" sound. This
clicking sound is an indication that the proper torque
has been reached.
5. Move the locking handle to the open position to
release the connector.
6. Move the locking handle to the open position to
release the connector.
3.2. Removal
1. Place the hermetic plug connector into the collet.
NOTE
The connector should bottom on a stop within the
collet.

The torque driver contains a 6.35 [.250] square drive
which accepts the replacement head (shown in
Figure 1).
1. Pull the head off the standard 6.35 [.250] square
drive.
2. Snap the replacement head (Figure 1) onto the
square drive.
