1.0 Purpose
1.1 To ensure that the integrity of the cable marker is not compromised when
it is removed from the backbone and during installation.
1.2 Failure to follow this procedure could lead to the Marker being damaged.
2.0 Scope
2.1 Cable markers that have a perforation along the length of the product
should be removed from the backbone as detailed in section 3;
“Removal of Markers from the Backbone”, see figures 1 and 2.

3.0 Removal of Markers from the Backbone
3.1 The following procedure should be followed to prevent tearing of the
cable marker whilst removing from the backbone.
3.2 Procedure
3.2.1 Grip cable marker by the end closest to the backbone.
3.2.2 For thermal transfer products have the smooth side up; for dot
matrix printed products have the rough surface should be
upwards.
3.2.3 Gently pull the marker away from the backbone as shown in
figures 3 and 4.

3.3 The procedure ensures that the force is applied across both of the
perforations, thus preventing the product from tearing into the cable tie
holes.

4.0 Marker Installation
4.1 Products descriptions start with:

4.2 To prevent tearing of the cable marker during installation, the cable ties
must be applied correctly. Incorrect use of the cable ties exerts undue
stress to the edges of the cable-tie holes.
4.3 It is recommended that the cable marker is installed in its final desired
position and not slid after fixing along the cable into the final position.
4.4 Note correct positioning of cable ties in photos below.
