LUMAWISE ALR SHORTING AND OPEN CAPS DURABLE, WEATHERPROOF, LONG LASTING TE Connectivity (TE) offers durable weatherproof LUMAWISE ALR shorting and open caps that provide harsh environmental protection to roadway, street and area lighting luminaires. Shorting caps are commonly used to protect NEMA twist lock receptacles on outdoor luminaires prior to the installation of a discrete or network lighting control. Other uses include designating lighting fixtures for maintenance, keeping lights on continually for safety or using an open cap to disconnect service. LUMAWISE ALR Series shorting and open caps are IP54 weatherproof rated. The ALR-MC-10 shorting cap with an integrated 545 Joule Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) provides protection against transient line surges for LED luminaires. Part descriptions that include ANSI provide a unit with a stepped housing as referenced in the ANSI C136.10 specification. This unique housing makes it easier for users to distinguish visually between a standard photocontrol and a shorting or open cap.
