Product Change Notification (PCN) PCN1040 Laser Brand Transition March 30, 2015 Detailed Description of Change IXYS Integrated Circuits Division will be changing device marking from ink branding to laser mark. This change will only affect the visual appearance (or “form”) of the devices listed in this Product Change Notification. The manufacturing process change will take effect on June 28, 2015, 90 days from the date of this notice. The products affected by the transition will coincide with date code 1527 (27th week of 2015), which is a visible identifier of the product. Due to existing inventory, some shipments may contain ink-branded devices for a period of time. Some shipments could contain both ink-branded and laser-marked parts. At no time will ink-branded and laser-marked parts be combined into the lowest-level shipping container (i.e. tube or tape and reel). Ink-branded devices may continue to be shipped for a period of two years following the effective date or until inventory of ink-branded parts subject to the change is depleted. The PCN number assigned to this action is PCN1040 and should be referenced in any correspondence related to the change. Reason for Change The adjustment in package branding will improve efficiency and automation. No other characteristics of the part will change. Note: In the following two sections, the letter “x” is a non-specified place holder used to indicate that all part number variations with the given prefix is included in the list (e.g. CPC10xx applies to all part numbers that start with “CPC10”, such as CPC1002 and CPC1014). Additionally, these part numbers include all suffix versions offered in tubes (e.g. -S, -P, -L) and tapeand-reel (e.g. -STR, -PTR, -LSTR, -PLTR). These changes are part of our effort and commitment to continuous improvement of our processes and products. IXYS Integrated Circuits Division’s quality system requires customer notification under the circumstances outlined below. IXYS Integrated Circuits Division’s notification policy states: IXYS Integrated Circuits Division is mindful that changes to process or product could have an adverse impact on our customers. Therefore we verify, through our qualification methodology, that a change does not negatively affect product quality or reliability. We also verify that it does not impact form, fit, or function. Changes to function are notified to the customer if the change could adversely affect the customer but not if the change is to enhance product performance beyond the current specification, for example, higher isolation voltage capability for Solid State Relays. In cases where a planned change would impact form, fit, or would adversely affect function, quality or reliability, we notify the customer 90 days in advance. We also notify our customers of planned product obsolescence. The following definitions apply: Form: the visual appearance including color, marking, and surface finish Fit: the external dimensions and associated tolerances Function: the electrical, mechanical, thermal, quality and reliability characteristics performance IXYS Integrated Circuits Division notifies customers of the changes using a Product Change Notification (PCN).
