Compact and easy to use Inexpensive for lower volume production or field repairs Designed to crimp closed barrel terminals DESCRIPTION: This Manual Tool is used for crimping non-insulated 8AWG thru 4/0 closed barrel terminals. This tool can be used with a hammer or vise. This tool is not UL listed with any Molex products. OPERATION WARNING: Make sure that the wire or cable is Disconnected from any power source. RAM 1. 2. 3. 4. Position the Manual Crimping Tool on a solid surface with the base down. Place a thumb on the tool body behind the ram. Use an index finger under the lift lever and push up. See Figure 1. Insert the desired terminal or splice in the nest making sure the crimp barrel is centered. 5. For butt splices, center half of the barrel into the nest. 6. Release the lift lever, allowing the ram to contact the terminal or splice. 7. Insert the proper stripped wire into the barrel of the terminal. See Figure 2. Using a 2lb hammer strike the top of the ram until the lift lever is lined up with the correct AWG marking located on the side of the tool. See Figure 3. 9. Lift the ram by pulling up on the lift lever and removing the crimped assembly. For butt splices repeat this procedure on the opposite side of the barrel. See Figure 4. Maintenance It is recommended that each operator of the tool be made aware of, and responsible for, the following maintenance steps: LIFT LEVER Figure 4 1. Remove dust, moisture, and other debris with a clean brush, or soft, lint free cloth. 2. Do not use any abrasive materials that could damage the tool. 3. Make certain all movable parts such as ram is oiled regularly. Light oil (such as SAE30W oil) should be used. 4. When the tool is not in use, store it in a clean, dry area. Warranty All tools are warranted to be free of manufacturing defects for a period of 30 days. Should such a defect occur, the tool will be exchanged free of charge. This exchange will not be applicable to altered, misused, or damaged tools. This tool is designed for hand use only.
