The tool is approximately 203mm (8 in.) long by 51mm (2 in.) wide (closed) by 25mm (1 in.) thick and weighs .48 kg (1 lb). Before removing individual wafers from a VHDM right angle male header assembly, you must first remove the stiffener. (See 62202-1000 Stiffener removal tool). 2. After removing the stiffener, identify the wafer that needs to be replaced. NOTE: Marking the defective wafer with white correction fluid or other similar material will aid in the removal process. 3. Position the 62202-1050 wafer removal tool over the defective wafer with the webbed jaw of the removal tool located inside the pin contact area of the wafer and the slotted jaw over the nubs on the other end of the wafer. See Figure 1. 4. While holding the tool in position over the wafer, squeeze the handles until the separator blade on the webbed jaw separates the defective wafer from the adjacent wafers and the opposing jaws clamp the wafer. 5. While applying pressure to the handles, rock the tool forward and back while pulling up until the wafer slips out of the assembly. It may be necessary to also remove and replace adjacent wafers as they are easily damaged in the process of removal. 6.
