High leverage ratchet mechanism Quick release blade opens easily Hardened steel cutting blades Ergonomic soft grip handles for comfortable operation DESCRIPTION: This cable cutter is designed for cutting copper and aluminium cable sizes up to of 480mm² (1000MCM) (solid and stranded wire) with insulation diameter up to 54mm (2.06”) maximum. This tool is not recommended for cable or wire smaller than 8AWG. WARNING: Do not cut live circuits! This sign specifies danger of electric shock. Failure to observe can result in danger to life and limb. CAUTION: Never cut steel wire, damage to the cutting blades will result. OPERATION SWIVEL BLADE 1. Open the cable cutter by loosening the locking latch at the base of the movable handle of the tool. 2. Open the swivel blade in the opposite direction of the fixed blade. FIXED BLADE OPEN LOCKING LATCH CAUTION: Always keep hands and fingers out of the cutting area! 3. Insert the desired cable into the radius of the fixed blade. 4. Rotate the swivel blade into the fixed blade until the cable is secured by both blades. The ratchet and stopper pawl will audibly click into place. CUTTING AREA INSERT THE CABLE RELEASE PLATE HANDLES WARNING: Make sure that the cable is Disconnected from any power supply and does not contain any steel strands. 5. By pushing on the movable handle, the swivel blade will move one tooth at a time in direction of the fixed blade, cutting into the cable. This tool will operation in two cycles: Cycle 1 Completely open the tool by the movable handle. Feed: (2) two ratchet teeth. This is for quick cutting. Cycle 2 Open the tool half way, by using the movable handle. Feed: (1) one ratchet tooth. This lowers hand force through reducing opening. Caution: An overload of the tool may lead to a fracture of the ratchet teeth. Miscuts or Jams Should this tool ever become stuck or jammed in a partially closed position, Do Not force the handles open or closed. This tool comes equipped with a release plate that can open in every cutting position to allow removal of the cable before completion of the cut. To do this, follow the steps below. 1. Close the movable handle until the release plate can be moved in the down position. See Figure 1. Never use force! There is danger of fracturing the ratchet teeth and damaging this tool. 2. Keep the release plate in the down position. 3. Open the swivel blade opposite of the cutting direction. 4. Remove the cable and lift the release plate up to the original position. Maintenance It is recommended that each operator of the tool be made aware of, and responsible for, the following maintenance steps: 1. Remove dust, moisture, and other debris with a clean brush, or soft, lint free cloth. 2. Do not use any abrasive materials that could damage the tool. 3. Make certain all movable parts such as bolt joints and the ratchet mechanism are oiled regularly. Light oil (such as SAE30W oil) applied at the oil points. 4. Make sure the teeth of the swivel blade are cleaned of debris. There is danger of fracturing the ratchet area and the feed mechanism. 5. When the tool is not in use, store it in a clean, dry area. Warranty This tool is for cutting electrical cable only. All tools are warranted to be free of manufacturing defects for a period of 30 days. Should such a defect occur, the tool will be exchanged free of charge. This exchange will not be applicable to altered, misused, or damaged tools. This tool is designed for hand use only. Any clamping, fixturing, or use of handle extensions voids this warranty.
