DESCRIPTION
FEATURES
The MP2493 is a monolithic step-down switch
mode converter with a programmable output
current limit. It achieves 2A continuous output
current over a wide input supply range with
excellent load and line regulation.

inductor DC resistance (DCR) or an accurate
sense resistor.

Fault condition protection includes cycle-by-cycle
current limiting and thermal shutdown.
The MP2493 requires a minimum number of

The MP2493 is available in 8-pin SOIC, and 8pin SOICE packages.

2) The maximum allowable power dissipation is a function of the
maximum junction temperature TJ(MAX), the junction-toambient thermal resistance θJA, and the ambient temperature
TA. The maximum allowable continuous power dissipation at
any ambient temperature is calculated by PD(MAX)=(TJ(MAX)TA)/ θJA. Exceeding the maximum allowable power dissipation
will cause excessive die temperature, and the regulator will go
into thermal shutdown. Internal thermal shutdown circuitry
protects the device from permanent damage.
