It satisfies the optical interface specifications defined in IEEE 802.3z Drift 5.0 1000 BASE for Gigabit Ethernet and 1x/2x Fiber Channel FC-PI13.0. This module is designed for single-mode fiber and operates at a nominal wavelength of CWDM. There are eighteen center wavelengths available from 1270 nm to 1610 nm, each step 20 nm. A guaranteed minimum optical link budget of 28 dB is offered. The transmission distance is depended on the wavelength and loss of fiber. The transmitter section uses a multiple quantum well CWDM DFB laser and is a class 1 laser compliant according to International Safety Standard IEC-60825. The receiver section uses an integrated InGaAs detector preamplifier (IDP) mounted in an optical header and a limiting post-amplifier IC. A PECL input / output logic interface is used. TTL RX-LOS output simplifies interface to external circuitry.
