SPECIFIC METHOD OF MOUNTING TO WITHSTAND VIBRATION AND SHOCK The capacitor unit is designed for mounting on a printed circuit board. In order to withstand vibration and shock tests, it must be insured that the stand-off pips are in good contact with the printed circuit board. The capacitors shall be mechanically fixed by the leads and the body clamped. SPACE REQUIREMENTS ON PRINTED-CIRCUIT BOARD The maximum length and width of film capacitors is shown in the figure. To avoid thermal radiation or convection, the capacitor must be tested in a closed area from air circulation. APPLICATION NOTE AND LIMITING CONDITIONS These capacitors are not suitable for mains applications as across-the-line capacitors without additional protection. These mains applications are strictly regulated in safety standards and therefore electromagnetic interference suppression capacitors conforming the standards must be used.
