Hubbell Twist-Lock. The Hubbell 20A and 30A
Insulgrip® Twist-Lock product line has been expanded
to provide a complete family of Safety-Shroud TwistLock devices. In this all-new line, plug blades are
protected by a fixed shroud that shields the blades
from possible deformation and, even more
importantly, virtually eliminates user contact with an
energized partially connected plug.
These products set an entirely new standard for

The Watertight Safety-Shroud Twist-Lock series has
achieved a UL Type 4X rating, which is capable of
withstanding the ingress of water under hose-down

impact UL 94V-0 rated engineered thermoplastic. A
complete line of receptacles, plugs, connector bodies
and inlets is available in the most commonly required
configurations and ratings.
The Safety-Shroud Twist-Lock series is intended for
installation where watertightness is not a factor, but
the added safety of the shrouded design is highly
desirable. Here again, the Safety-Shroud™ is molded
of an engineered thermoplastic for a very high level of
impact resistance. In order to satisfy every application
and every need, Hubbell offers this series in three
different styles of receptacles—surface, angle and

HUBBELLOCK® Plugs and Connector Bodies
Features and Benefits
Three-piece thermoplastic clamp assembly with fast-lead stainless
screws provides a more consistent durable grip. Grommets provide
a sealed cable entry that protects against the entry of moisture and dust.
Superior wire terminations are assured with box terminals and
screws with pressure pads. This design captures stray wire strands
and permits more clamping pressure on the wire without
damaging it. Loosening of terminations and resulting heat build-up
are greatly reduced.
Impact resistance in the interior of the female device comes from
a strong thermoplastic material.
No “lazy” connections because a spring-loaded safety shutter
automatically ejects the plug if it hasn’t been properly locked into
the female device. This eliminates teasing of the contacts, a major
cause of contact burn-up.
Arcs are snuffed out, when devices are mated or unmated under
load, by spring-loaded safety shutter.
Longer contact life is assured by supplementary springs. Other
devices rely just on contacts themselves to provide proper
contact pressure.
Enhanced safety because access to live female contacts is
restricted by the spring-loaded safety shutter.
Positive locking is ensured by the nose of the plug being keyed into
a detent in female device. This lock is independent of the contacts
or a separate mechanical lock.
Insulated non-metallic housing enhances safety and abuse resistance.
