The “shell” design of the holder keeps solder from splattering. The 599B cleans tips without water. To clean the tip, simply plunge the tip into the coiled wire. The wire is softer than the tip plating yet harder than the oxidation that forms on the tip. The 599B tip cleaner may be used in lieu of a damp sponge. Accessories: 599-029 replacement wire.
