Company History
American Electrical, Inc. was founded in 1997 by
Thomas McCormick, former Vice President of Sales for
Weidmuller, Inc. The Company concept was born over
lunch with fellow associates literally on a napkin.
American Electrical, Inc. was developed with a special
German supplier relationship – who after a business
meeting provided McCormick with a price list and a
handshake. The Company flourished due to strong
friendships, business relationships, and people who
were unafraid to help a new organization grow.
McCormick will never forget those special people and
Distributors who first helped him get started –
Thank You.
McCormick dreamed of a Company that responded quickly,
shipped on time and provided quality products at a
great price. He envisioned a workplace that was not
compartmentalized, one where each person could be
responsible for the Customer throughout the entire
specification/order chain. He felt the satisfaction of
the employees would create a powerful Customer
Service entity which in return would create customer
loyalty.
McCormick built the product lines offered by partnering
with Companies who specialized in a product area but
were smaller in scope – the businesses that were looking
to break into the U.S. industrial market, but with no
intentions of putting up brick and mortar. Today,
American Electrical, Inc. has 12 product lines and is
still growing. Our dedicated employees all work hard
to serve our valued customers – helping them to
“Think Inside the Box.”
Quality Statement
American Electrical, Inc. is a supplier of high quality
industrial electrical components. All of our products
are manufactured in accordance to international
standards, such as UL, CSA, CE and more.
RoHS (EU directive 2002/95/EC):
We certify all of our products comply
with the RoHS Directive of January 27,
2003. All product lines are free of
banned substances to include lead,
mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium,
PBB and PBDE.

Our Core Beliefs
We have an acronym we call “FAST” that has both a true and
underlying meaning. Of course the underlying message to our
customers is that we try to do things as quickly as possible.
Whether that’s a quotation, price check, availability question,
shipping or information request – we do it now – we know and
understand that there are eager customers or potential customers
waiting on us and their time is as valuable as ours.
Our word FAST also has a definitive meaning:
F
– To be Flexible in our ability to serve the customer, to be able
to effectively wear the different “hats” that are required in a
smaller organization and to have the customers’ service issues in
mind at all times.
A
– To be Accurate in everything we do – from specification to
delivery. We understand the consequences of mistakes and the domino
effect they can have on the practices of our customers and our
combined businesses. Mistakes cost money and time. We seek the
proper training to insure that we follow the correct procedures
and have the product knowledge necessary to be correct. We know
that we need to do it right all the time to eliminate the necessity
to do it over.
S
– To act with Speed in all that we do. We know the customer
waits for our response or our products and we do not need to
waste that time – for we understand that time is money. We want
to be able to ship today, quote and specify now, fax immediately,
confirm orders on receipt – respond NOW. For we know that this
will win our customers’ support, future business and trust.
T
– To act as a Team so that our effort is multiplied to produce a
much greater result for our customers. To have the positive attitude
that is so common in winners. The understanding that people want to
be winners and work with winners – with people who are successful
not only in what they do but how they work together. We are a
Team who acts as one on behalf of our dedicated customers, whom
we would be nothing without.

American Electrical offers the Klemsan line
terminal blocks – saving time, space, and money.
The terminal blocks are DIN Rail mountable
and can be installed into various configurations
quickly. Klemsan has over 35 years of terminal
block history with all international approvals.
American Electrical and Klemsan partnered in
2002 to be the first and only supplier of
Klemsan Terminal Blocks in the United States.
Din rail mounted terminal blocks are used
worldwide. Our terminal blocks are used in any
machine or process control interface application.

Tension Clamp System
Housings – The plastic housing holding the
metallic screws and clamps is made of UL 94 V2
(105 degree C) thermoplastic polyamide 6.6.
This plastic and its certification allow operation
rated at 600V, providing ample dielectric
strength for any Industrial Application.
Tension clamp connection allows the conductor
to be pressed directly against the current bar.
The clamp is opened with a screwdriver allowing
the insertion of the conductor.
Clamps (made of steel) - Steel is one of the
strongest materials available for its value.
The clamps are zinc plated to guard against
corrosion. When properly torqued, the clamp
is designed to self-lock.
Screws – Made of steel as well, the screws
act as a system with the clamps – this system
requires the same materials for each component.
The screws lift and help to self-lock the
clamps providing a downward force onto the
conductors. The screws are also plated with
a Zinc finish to prevent any form of corrosion.
CONNecTiON TYpeS
Screw Connection
This is the most popular of all known connection
methods. Screw connection refers to any connection in which the conductor is stripped of its
insulation and clamped without any preparation.
When the screw is tightened, the pressure
pulls apart both halves of the clamping yoke.
This generates a high locking action on the
screw and provides excellent vibration
resistance.
AcceSSORieS
End Plate – Terminal Blocks are manufactured with one open end allowing
side by side placement. An end plate is
necessary for the last terminal block in
the assembly enabling full enclosure.
Partition – The partition allows visual
separation of circuits and for electrical
separation due to adjacent cross
connections.
%ND"RACKET – To prevent terminal
blocks from falling off the DIN Rail,
they must be secured on each side. This
is accomplished with end brackets
screwed onto the rail. Two end brackets
are necessary – one on each side of the
continuous assembly designed.
Cross Connections – Cross Connections
distribute potentials within an assembly.
Standard poles of 2, 3, 4, or 10 are available to satisfy your design requirements
A
Marking Tag – Marking tags are used for
circuit identification and easier troubleshooting. We have many numbers and
letters available that will make your
designed assembly unique. Horizontal
markers for DIN Rail mounted horizontally
and vertical for assemblies mounted
vertically.
