For customers who have not deployed EM7430 or MC7430 modules in Japan in the past, and do not plan to deploy these modules in Japan in the future, no further action is required. Customers deploying EM7430 or MC7430 modules in Japan must read the remainder of this Product Bulletin and provide feedback to Sierra Wireless no later than February 3, 2023. Details Sierra Wireless is updating the Japan regulatory certifications for EM7430 and MC7430 to include Band 40. The regulatory numbers will not change, and the updated certification will apply to all EM7430 and MC7430 modules deployed in Japan previously. The module regulatory certifications include a list of approved antennas which can be used in Japan. Sierra Wireless then requires that customers deploying these modules in Japan provide the following information: o List of antennas used on platforms supporting Band 40 in Japan o The datasheet for the above listed antennas, including Band 40 gain specifications If antenna information is not provided, the antenna will not be included in this certification update for Band 40. Customers using an antenna not included in the certification will then need to ensure Band 40 is disabled for all field units. If a device operates using Band 40, with an antenna that was not referenced in the certification with Band 40 data on, this will be a violation of Japan Radio Law. This certification update may impact certifications of platform using these modules. Customers are responsible for assessing regulatory requirements for their platforms, and for ensuring compliance of the end product. Effective Dates Customers must provide the requested information to Sierra Wireless no later than February 3, 2023. Sierra Wireless expects then to complete the module certification updates no later than February 28, 2023.
