TW164
TW164 1-to-4 Port Smart Power GNSS Signal Splitter
Frequency Coverage: Full GNSS Spectrum
Overview
The Tallysman TW164 is a profe ssional-grade full GNSS band signal splitte r that
connects one ante nna up to four re ce ive rs, and supports GPS/QZSS-L1/L2/L5, QZSS-L6,
GLONASS-G1/G2/G3, Be iDou-B1/B2/B2a/B3, Galile o-E1/E5a/E5b/E6, NavIC-L5, and LBand correction services.
GNSS has be come a critical compone nt in safe ty, se curity, timing, and
infrastructure applications, all of which re quire ve ry high availability. As a re sult,
re silie nt fault-tolerant components are essential to avoid service interruptions.
The design of first-generation GNSS signal splitters suffered from a single point of failure:
only one attache d re ce ive r powe re d the splitte r and the ante nna. If this re ce ive r faile d
or was unplugged, all attached receivers also failed.
Tallysman’s curre nt-ge ne ration TW164 Smart Powe r GNSS signal splitte r provide s
two additional key features:
First, it acce pts powe r from all attache d GNSS re ce ive rs and se le cts powe r from a
receiver using the following protocol. Port #1 is given priority if its voltage is within the
specified range (3.3 - 12.5 VDC). Howe ve r, if port #1’s re ce ive r is disconne cte d or if its
re ce ive r powe r goes below the under-voltage or above the over-voltage specification, the
TW164 will switch to the next port in numerical order, as long as its power and voltage are
within the expected range. The switching and port selection is, therefore, deterministic.
Second, if the antenna fails and does not draw current, the TW164 will provide all
connectors with a current draw lower than 1 mA, indicating an antenna fault.
The TW164 offe rs the be st in-class pe rformance in te rms of noise figure , isolation,
and linearity. In addition, it is packaged in a robust, compact, lightweight, and water-proof
(IP67) corrosion-protected aluminum housing.
The TW164 is available with e ithe r TNC or type -N conne ctors and offe rs standard gain
to compensate for signal-splittingloss.
It is recommended that unused ports should be terminated with a 50 Ohm load.
