Thank you in advance for your cooperation. 1. Affected Products DF9, DF12, DF15, DF16, DF18, DF23, and DF26 Series. (See the Supplementary Table.) 2. Details of the Change 2-1: The form of packaging will be changed from paper reel to plastic reel. Photograph 1. Paper Reel Photograph 2. Plastic Reel 2-2: A humidity resistant packaging specification has been added to the DF12 Series as a countermeasure against blistering. Humidity resistant packaging refers to connector embossed packaging where each reel is put into a polyethylene bag along with a desiccant (silica gel). Differences Accompanying the Change The switch to a plastic reel will not result in a change to the specified dimensions related to automatic mounting machines. The form and color will differ and if there is a need for a new drawing, please contact a Hirose Electric account representative. Likewise, should the marking of the DF12 Series humidity resistant packaging be required on the drawing, please contact a Hirose Electric account representative. 4. Reasons for the Change 3-1: Change to a Plastic Reel The change of the material from paper to plastic eliminates the fiber fragments that come from the paper, raising the level of cleanliness in our connector assembly process and of your firm’s connector mounting process. The packaging material used in the core portion of the embossed tape will also be changed to plastic and this will be a plus from the aspect of the environment. 3-2 The reasons for the change to humidity resistant packaging are as a countermeasure to both blistering from moisture absorption of the insulation material and the higher mounting temperatures associated with lead-free products. 5. Schedule of the Change The change is scheduled to be implemented in July, 2007 and to be completed by the end of December. Please note that during the changeover period (of approximately 3 months), there may be some mixing of new and old product lots.
